Summary

Provides customers and end users with electronics hardware and software product technical support.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Support Responsibilities

  • Provides written and verbal response via telephone and e-mail to customer inquiries regarding use of TDT software and hardware products. Communicates effectively with customers to help them understand how to install and use the products properly. Designs custom software application programs for customers as needed.
  • Handles requests for repair or replacement of customers’ equipment as needed. Process repairs by using established computerized RMA database system. Maintains technical support database and updates as needed. 
  • Develop software for production testing of hardware.
  • Develops, writes, edits and updates product technical documents, including spec sheets, user’s manuals, and other related technical information. Produce applicable drawings, diagrams and charts to illustrate material and presents material for publication. Selects and writes appropriate software application examples to be incorporated into technical product manuals. 
  • Communicates with TDT software program developers regarding bugs and revisions. Follow-up to ensure corrections are received, tested and problems resolved in a timely manner. Maintains and updates records and files of work, revisions, and program test results, as well as customer feedback regarding software. Carefully and consistently maintains, edits and updates all TDT software distributed to customers.

Sales Support Responsibilities

  • Attend scientific conferences representing TDT and its products.
  • Train sales staff in applications of TDT products.
  • Works closely with the Sales Department to provide technical hardware and software support to resolve customer questions and application issues.  

Research and Development

  • Works with Staff scientists on grant and product development.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong technical and grant writing skills.
  • Patience and a healthy sense of humor.
  • Strong math skills including digital signal processing experience.
  • Excellent computer skills including strong skills in MATLAB, C, Delphi, or Visual Basic programming.  

    Excellent computer skills necessary for completing detailed documentation, including experience on Microsoft Windows PC- based software such as Word, PageMaker, Excel, Corel Draw, and Photoshop.  

Education and/or Experience

Engineering or Science degree (Physical, or Biological) from a four-year college or university; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work experience in a research lab environment is highly desired.
