iX7 Integrated Fiber Photometry & Optogenetics Module

The iX7 is a fully integrated fiber photometry system for three color/ two sensor recordings plus opto

A True Out-of-the-Box Solution

The iX7 is TDT’s most streamlined and sensitive fiber photometry offering to date. The setup for the user is as simple as possible – there is just a single port for connection to the subject.

Integrated LEDs and photosensors provide more powerful light delivery and larger return signals compared to external optical routing schemes. The iX7 has a built-in power meter port for easy cable testing and an integrated red LED for simultaneous photometry + optogenetic stimulation.

The iX7 is the perfect device for any researcher who wants to use fiber photometry or optogenetics to investigate neural circuitry.

Internal Optics Means Minimal Loss

The iX7 has integrated LEDs and photosenors for the best quality photometry recordings possible iX7 standard internal routing scheme

LEDs

The iX7 has a standard three color configuration of 405 nm or 415 nm, 465 nm, and 560 nm LEDs for the most common set of fiber photometry recordings. You can perform simultaneous two color imaging on GFP-based and RFP-based fluorescent indicators using our lock-in amplification method, which does not require muxing LEDs on/off at timed intervals. This means that your recordings will have a higher temporal resolution compared to CMOS camera-based recording systems.

Many fiber photometry recording issues are related to optical cables. The integrated LED routing provides greater light transmission compared to external cable routing and has much less setup and troubleshooting effort. There is also much less room for error because of the single subject cable

PHOTOSENSORS

The integrated PS3 photosensors are four times more sensitive than our previous generation PS2 photosensors used on the iX6 and RZ10x. These high gain detectors are capable of recording the very weak fluorescent signals from cell bodies and axon terminals so you can have confidence when studying neural projections and circuits in a fiber photometry context.

OPTOGENETICS

Optostim gif

Optogenetics in an important tool for probing neural circuitry and testing the influence of genetically targeted neurons on external subject behaviors. The iX7 has built-in red (635 nm or 590 nm) and blue (465 nm) color LED stimulation for common opsins like ChR, Chrimson, Jaws, and more. The ‘STIM’ port can also be modified to allow customers to route external lasers into the iX7 via an FC port for higher power or different color stimulation.

The iCon Platform

Welcome to TDT’s exciting new step into the future of neuroscience hardware and behavioral control.

The iCon is a unique hardware and software platform designed for users to do build-out and perform any applications they need for their experiments all in one place.

Any module combination can be used to make an iCon, which means we can provide customers with a mix-and-match setup that provides broad coverage for many experimental designs but no redundancies. This also means that you get the most value out of your system for the lowest cost.

TDT currently has over 20 modules available to perform operant control, fiber photometry, low and high channel count electrophysiology, video tracking, sound presentation, aversive stimulation, general digital and analog input/output (IO), and many other neuroscience tasks. We are also constantly designing new modules for future additions to the platform.

Plus, teaching new students to use the equipment is streamlined and easy. But if you need any help, our dedicated support team are with you every step of the way at no extra cost. Lastly, everything is controlled, time-synchronized, and saved by our Synapse software, so you can design experiments and record multi-faceted data with no extra hassle.
